Chapter 18 - The Hunt
The three visiting vampires are courteous at first until they found that Bella was human. Carlisle, who at first approaches them with Jasper and Emmett, now regroups and sends Emmett and Alice with Edward and Bella, while Esme, Rosalie, Jasper, and he escort the trio to their home. Edward’s instinctual reaction is to get Bella as far away as possible — apparently James, one of the visitors, is a tracker and wants to hunt her. Bella is worried that her father would be in danger, and demands that they return. Edward wouldn’t have it, but Bella reveals a plan - which is that she’d leave for Phoenix (and make it known to the tracker), and actually arrive in Phoenix, assuming that’d be the last place he’d look for her.
